Portland sits are the end of the Great Ocean Road, not far from the South Australia border. Portland Victoria's has a resident population of approx 10,000 people and is one of the older towns on the Victorian coast with a history that pre-dates Melbourne. The Portland's Maritime Discovery Centre showcases rich sailing history. Portland remains an active port with a large fishing fleet, an active aluminum smelter and recreational fishing charters. There are 3 bays: Portland, Bridgewater and Discovery.

Portland is a growing source of Green Energy with one of Australia's most productive wind farms and the Vestas Portland - maker of those large blades on Wind Turbines. Portland also has an unusual geothermal energy which uses hot water to heat many of Portland's buildings including the Portland Leisure and Aquatic Centre's indoor swimming pools.

If you're coming into Portland from the Henty Highway, follow the signs to the town centre. You'll go down the main street called Percey St. Turn left at Gleneg St and turn again at the first roundabout which will be Bentinck St. Melaleuca Motel is on left side a 23 Bentinck St (opposite Portland's Leisure and Aquatic centre).
