The Magdala Motor Lodge is situated four kilometres from the centre of Stawell, and set well back from the Western Highway. A 20 acre rural haven, of natural and landscaped gardens, complete with native wildlife and majestic River Red Gums in and around a man made lake. All of our 28 ground floor Deluxe Suites have lake frontage, and feature all modern facilities with queen size beds.

Our Stawell Motel's onsite facilities include an indoor heated salt water pool and spa, a full size tennis court, a canoe to paddle around the lake, an 800m walking/jogging lakeside track and a hit and giggle six hole golf course.

Licensed Restaurant in Stawell

The Magdala on the Lake restaurant serves gourmet a la carte meals and boasts an extensive collection of local wines, has sweeping views of the lake and it's floodlit gardens. The restaurant is non smoking. During winter an open fire provides warmth and atmosphere. and has an extensive cellar specialising in Grampians and Pyrenees wines, whilst also featuring wines from other regions of Australia.

Things to See and Do in Stawell and the Grampians

The Grampians area has many noted attractions. These include The Stawell Gift, known as the richest foot race in the world which runs for three days over Easter. The beautiful Grampians National Park, only twenty five minutes' drive away, which is a bushwalker's paradise, with about about fifty walks, ranging from half an hour to two days, waterfalls, awesome vistas and spectacular rock formations.

The Grampians and Pyrenees regions produce some of the best wines in Australia. Fifteen minutes from the Magdala is the wine village of Great Western. Seppelt host tours of their underground cellars or 'drives', dug by the gold miners last century, finishing in the Shaft House. Best's Wines also date back to the last century. Some of the original vines planted by Henry Best in 1866 still survive.
