Things to See and Do in Casino NSW

Casino NSW is located in the far north coast of New South Wales, situated along the Richmond River and 30 minutes from Lismore on the Bruxner Highway. Casino is a at the heart of a rich agricultural area known as the Beef Capital of Australia.

There are many interesting historic buildings from Casino's early settlement in the 1840s. A stroll along the Heritage Trail starting at the Casino Museum in Walker St makes it easy to view most of the important buildings in the town. Other places to visit include the folk museum and Tomki Station Boiling Pot, once used for boiling down tallow.

River Park Motor Inn is next to the Richmond River - a popular place for picnics, fishing and water sports. In Casino, below the Irving Bridge you can see the Platypus Pool, where these shy creatures can sometimes be seen.

Near the Casino Golf Club is the Jabiru Geneebinga Wetlands, a sanctuary for native birds and wildlife. There is a mini railway managed by the Pacific Coast Railway Society Inc. who offer half hour miniature train trips on Sundays.

Casino is the gateway to many of the region's wilderness areas and national parks of the Northern Tablelands including Border Ranges National Park and Mt Warning National Park. Approximately 20 kilometres west of Casino at Dyraaba, you will find local Aboriginal Rock Carvings.

Casino is known as the Beef Capital and has several special agricultural events including the Beef Week Festival in May and the Primex Agricultural Expo in June, the largest commercial exhibition relating to primary industry issues in northern New South Wales, which attracts exhibitors from around Australia and visitors from all over the region and into rural Queensland. Coming to Casino from Lismore: Casino is 30 minutes from Lismore and the Lismore Airport, and 60 minutes from Ballina and Byron Bay. As you follow the Bruxner Highway thru Casino, Rover Park Motor Inn is on the right side after crossing the Richmond River.

Coming to Casino from Tenterfield: Casino is 90 minutes from Tenterfield. As you come into Casino, the road will turn left onto Centre St and our motel is 2 blocks on the left just before the bridge.

Coming to Casino from Grafton: Casino is 90 minutes from Grafton by the Summerland Way (Route 91). Our motel is on the left just before the bridge on the corner of Centre and River streets.
