Warwick is situated 160 kms south west of Brisbane and borders on fertile farmland and the rolling hills of the Great Dividing Range. Known as the 'Rose and Rodeo City', Warwick hosts one of Australia's oldest and most famous rodeos each year in October. During the spring months, Warwick showcases its wonderful roses throughout its parks and gardens. The red 'City of Warwick' or Arafuto Rose was developed especially for the town. While in Warwick visit the Regional Art Gallery or Pringle Cottage Museum, a collection of buildings featuring furniture and household items from more that 130 years of family life in the Warwick district. Take a ride on the old Steam Railway or play a game of golf on the local 18 hole golf course.
Further afield Leslie Dam, located 13 kms west of Warwick, offers boating, fishing, swimming, as well as picnic areas for day visitors and camping areas for longer stays. Venture out to some of the granite belt wineries located in a region unique in Australia. Wineries worth looking at include - Heritage Wines of Stanthorpe, Summit Estate Wines and Boireann Winery. The combination of cool weather and decomposed granite soils produce outstanding wines as well as high quality orchard fruit.
