Things to Do in Lismore:

When visiting Lismore, the New Olympic Motel is a great base from which to explore the Northern Rivers Region and the surrounding Byron Bay to Ballina coastal hinterland. Lismore is the major commercial center in the Northern Rivers.  Lismore is a cultural and educational centre with the Northern Rivers Conservatorium Arts Centre with leading contemporary arts education fostering the region's cultural diversity and artistic wealth. Southern Cross University has a campus in Lismore. There are also numerous local art galleries, cafes and unique village communities worth exploring.

Lismore's annual 'Lantern Parade' is held in June - a beautiful local event well worth seeing. 

The Region has many World Heritage listed National Parks and with scenic drives to explore in this lush subtropical environment. Experience high waterfalls crashing into steep gorges, stunning escarpments with broad vistas, and amazing concentration of primitive plants, including the worlds highest concentration of the Ancient Antarctic Beech tree. With 100's of kilometers of walking tracks, and over 170 bird species to find nature lovers will find a lot to do. A must trip is to Minyon Falls, cascading over a hundred metres to the valley floor from the rim of the ridge of Nightcap National Park.

Nimbin is well known for its 'hippie' alternative lifestyles. Take a scenic drive through the township of Nimbin; visiting cafes and galleries.  Be sure to check out the 'Aquarius Festival' which has been going on since the 70's celebrating alternative lifestyles.  East of Nimbin, you will see Protester Falls and the beautiful village of The Channon where once a month you'll find a famous market with locally made arts and craft.

Be sure to take the Tweed Range scenic drive which features spectacular rainforest scenery, plus unforgettable vistas of Mt Warning and the caldera. The vastness of the ancient volcanic caldera, the mosaic of farms and the deep green of the rain forest stand out against the peak of Mount Warning. Short walks at Brindle Creek and Bar Mountain picnic areas add to the experience. The Antarctic Beech picnic area has views over the Lost World Wilderness. A highlight is the view from the Pinnacle Lookout on the rim of the great caldera stretching out as far as the eye can see to the coast and beyond.
