Things to See and Do in Warragul

Warragul is known as the Dairy Capital of Victoria and the regional capital of West Gippsland. It is home to some of Victoria's richest farm land as well as being a major supplier of milk for Melbourne. The name Warragul is thought to come from an Aboriginal word for "wild" or "wild dog." The area was settled in the 1860s as a staging point for coaches on the Old Sale Road.

A number of festivals and events are centred around the town's agricultural and dairying industry, including Farm World and the Harvest of Gippsland. There are several attractive gardens and parks in Warragul, with the most scenic being Civic Park, situated in a valley, it features a large lake, rotunda, picnic shelters, walking tracks and a waterfall. While in the area a delightful activity is to take the Gourmet Deli Trail which consists of a network of surrounding farms, vineyards and outlets selling local produce and small goods.

There are also a number of Arts and Crafts galleries and Antique shops in the area to explore. Other sites include the Warragul Historical Museum, several Historic Buildings from the 1880s, the Warragul Vintage Craft Park in Copelands Road, which has a miniature steam train to take visitors through the park and gardens.
