In the 70’s, artist’s created the ‘Arts Factory Village’! In the 80’s it was an internationally recognized rock and roll venue. Many claim the Arts Factory is the ‘Birthplace’ of much of the fame and spirit of Byron Bay, and as a backpackers hostel it still maintains that original spirit today.

Located only 10 minutes walk from the beach we offer a wide range of budget accommodation. There is a free courtesy bus available for pick-up from the bus station and we also run our bus all night so you can easily get to town if you don;t feel like walking.

Our Byron Bay backpackers accommodation is funky, relaxed and a little bit hippy, in keeping with the overall feel of The Arts Factory Backpackers Lodge and the chilled out vibe of Byron Bay. There are shared dorm rooms available for backpackers travelling together or alone, some mixed rooms and some female only. If you’re travelling with your boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband, life-partner or good friend we also have private rooms available, if you’d like to have a few nights by yourselves… The Loveshack with ensuite facilities is perfect for a bit of ‘couple time’ and the Island Retreats are available as double or twin rooms.

Finding Our Byron Bay Backpacker Hostel

The Arts Factory free shuttle does regular pickups from the Byron Bay transit center next to the Visitor Information Centre. Keep an eye out for our free shuttle when you arrive.

If driving, once you arrive in Byron Bay follow the signs which say Arts Factory / Cinema 500 metres from town.

The Arts Factory is a 7 minute walk from Byron Bay CBD.
