Things to do In Manly NSW

Manly has long been both a popular Sydney attraction and relaxed seaside suburb. The settlement of Manly dates back to the earliest days of colonial Sydney, and its history is inexorably linked to the ocean and the harbour.

Awaiting in you Manly are Sydney’s finest waterfront restaurants, great shopping, breathtaking beaches, exciting entertainment and a ray of sporting activities. Dine on fine seafood, enjoy fish and chips on the beach, try parasailing and kayaking, or just relax with a drink and watch the world go by...

Manly Walks - there are a diversity of walks along the coast which offer fabulous views and historical interests.
- Manly to Spit Bridge - A 10km three hour (one way) walk
- Manly Eastern Hill Heritage walk - A historical walk that starts at East Esplanade at the white broken column.. This walk can get steep at certain places.
- Manly Heritage Plaque Walk – Take a stroll through the historic sites of Manly.

Finding our Manly Backpacker Hostel

From Sydney Airport to Manley:

There are 3 ways to find the Boardrider Youth Hostel from Sydney Airport:
1. Take the airport shuttle bus to Manly, which will drop you off at our door and costs around $30 per person (cheaper with more people). Takes approximately 30 minutes.
Pick up Points for Manly airport bus are as follows - International: Terminal 1. Shuttle Bus meeting point between exit gate A and McDonalds (inside the terminal).
Domestic: Terminal 2 & 3. Inside the terminal at luggage carousel five.

2. Take the train to Circular Quay and catch the ferry to Manley. As you walk out of the train station at Circular Quay the ferry terminal will be right in front of you, walk to terminal 4 and purchase your ticket to Manly. This is the best way to go because the ferry ride takes you past two of Sydney's most famous landmarks, The Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. The whole trip takes around 45 min. Also you can take the jet cat which only takes 15 mins.

When you arrive in Manly, Boardrider is 2 minutes walk from the ferry terminal, just walk directly across the road from the ferry terminal onto the pedestrian plaza and walk up the left hand side until you get to the new Brighton Hotel, turn left and we are located just around the back of the hotel. The whole cost of the trip is around $15.

3. Take taxi from the airport. Cost around $50.

Driving to Manly:

Driving from the north of Sydney
You will want to get onto the Pacific Highway then follow the signs to Dee Why. From Dee Why turn right onto the main road called Pittwater Road and follow it all the way to Manly. When you arrive in Manly turn left down Sydney Road and you will find us on the pedestrian plaza at the end of this road.

Driving from the south of Sydney
Whether you are travelling along the Hume Highway or the Princess Highway just follow the easy to understand road signs to the Harbor Bridge/North Shore. Once you have crossed the bridge follow more signs to Manly and you will find Board Rider Backpackers at the end of Sydney Road on the pedestrian plaza.
