Lakes Entrance
Lakes Entrance is on the east coast of Victoria between Bairnsdale and Orbost in the Gippsland Lakes Region. This area is often bypassed on the normal tourist trail as people take the inland routes yet this is an area with amazing forests, lakes and wild ocean beaches.
Lakes Entrance is an ocean front town, as you would expect, at the entrance to a large network of inland lakes. Originally a fishing village, Lakes Entrance is now a tourist destination with a vaiety of accommodation from motels and B&B's to caravan parks and backpackers.
The A1/Princes Highway passes thru the centre of Lakes Entrance and runs along Esplanade at the shoreline of the Cunninghame Arm inlet, with marinas, gardens and the protected waterfront on one side, and shops, restaurants, galleries and accommodation on the other side.
Lakes Entrance has a resident population of 4,000 and an attractive climate.
