Byron Bay

Byron Bay is a beachside town in the NSW Northern Rivers region. Byron Bay headland juts out into the Pacific Ocean to make Australia's Most Easterly Point with the Cape Byron Lighthouse. This picturesque headland offers views south to Broken Head and inland to Mount Warning. Whales are often seen from the Byron Bay Lighthouse as well as dolphins, turtles and fish swimming in the surf below.

Byron Bay is known as an 'alternative' community with a range of artists, musicians and natural therapists making this small tomw their home. Events held at Byron Bay include yoga retreats, music festivals such as the East Coast Blues & Roots Music Festival and Splendour in the Grass (which has temporarily moved to Woodford, Queensland), the Byron Bay Writers Festival, the Byron Bay Film Festival and the Byron Underwater Festival. Byron Bay is also famed for its growing hardcore punk scene, producing bands Parkway Drive and 50 Lions.

Byron Bay is a region that includes neighboring towns like Bangalow, Brunswick Heads and Mullumbimby. Byron Bay is approx 800km north of Sydney and 165 km south of Brisbane.

Byron Bay has a number of regular outdoor markets including a weekly farmers' market at the Butler Street Reserve held every Thursday and a big Craft Market held on the same site on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other area markets include Bangalow Market held on the 1st Sunday of every month.
