Yamba

Yamba is a seaside village in northern New South Wales. It's position at the mouth of the Clarence River also makes it Australia’s Eastern most sea port. Yamba's economy is strongly based on fishing and tourism, but Yamba is also a 'Sea Change' town with a large amount of baby boomers retiring to the warmer climate and relaxed beach lifestyle. Some call Yamba the new 'Byron Bay'.

Yamba has a population of around 6,000, but this number naturally increases during holiday periods. You can get to Yamba by bus or car. The nearest airport is Grafton Airport (YGFN) and there is a private airstrip on Palmers Island, just outside Yamba. Alternatively Yamba is serviced by Lismore Airport in Lismore with several daily flights to Sydney.

The Port of Yamba is Australia’s Eastern most sea port serving the whole Northern Rivers District including the towns of Grafton, Maclean, Ballina, Lismore, Casino and Coffs Harbour. The Port of Yamba is home to NSW's second largest fishing fleet and handles a range of imports and exports as well as being the main cargo port for goods shipped to Lord Howe Island. Exports from Yamba include Timber (hardwood logs and treated poles), live animals, manufactured items, kit houses, boats, explosives and general cargo.
