Airlie Beach Accommodation
A holiday in the southern Great Barrier Reef islands called the Whitsundays should be on every traveler’s 'To Do' list. Airlie Beach is the jumping off point to Whitsunday Islands where you'll find an amazing array of adventures to fit every budget. Whether you're seeking that perfect romantic holiday or looking to get away to pristine beaches with the family... A Holiday in Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays will not disappoint.
There are 74 islands in the Whitsunday group. These are tropical islands fringed with coral reefs, white beaches, palms and numerous coves that provide safe anchorage. The outer Great Barrier Reef reduces ocean swells making the area a safe play ground for sailing. It is an expansive area, but sailing time between anchorages is usually less than 2 hours.
Transfer services from the mainland to most of the Whitsunday Island Resorts. Head out from Abel Point Marina, or Shute Harbour, to your choice of Daydream Island, Long Island or Hamilton Island for a day of swimming, sun baking and cocktails, or even to South Molle Island for a spot of golf.
All the islands cater for day tripping guests, Daydream Island even has a specialized part of the island for day guests including a resort pool, bakery, tavern and 18 hole putting course. Or hire a buggy and cruise around Hamilton Island to experience the diversity of restaurants, cafes, and activities. Spend the day island hopping to secluded beaches like Blue Pearl Bay and Whitehaven Beach for diving and snorkeling. Whales Watching and Dolphins are a common sight.
Every place thinks they are the 'Most' this and the 'Most' that, yet it’s immediately obvious why Whitehaven Beach considered to be so special. With 7 kilometres of pure white silica sand glistening in the sun (but the sand doesn’t get hot), and the crystal clear aqua waters - this beach is postcard perfect. At the northern end of Whitehaven Beach is Hill Inlet, a stunning cove where the tide shifts the sand and water to create a beautiful fusion of colours. Don’t miss the walk to the lookout on Whitsunday Island where you can take advantage of the best views of both Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet.
For Day Hikes, head to Cedar Creek Falls national park, along Conway Road. During the wet season the stunning waterfall flows freely, and the water pools at the base of the falls offer swimming year round.
Relax on the beach at the Airlie Beach Lagoon, let the kids play in the water or on the playgrounds, while you cook a BBQ lunch and enjoy the ambiance and view out to the islands. Airlie Beach is great family day, and it's all free!
Airlie’s weekly Saturday markets offer a quaint range of local arts and crafts, fresh fruit and vegetables and much more. Set up right on the Airlie foreshore, the mood is relaxed and friendly.
Airlie Beach's Esplanade aka ‘Eat Street’ - has an excellent range of restaurants and cafes where you can sit and watch the waves lap on the beach and enjoy cool sea tropical breezes while you sip a coffee or cocktail.

Charter a Yacht from Airlie Beach
Try out the ultimate Whitsunday Holiday experience and take a 'bareboat charter'. A 'bareboat' is a charter sail, or power boat, without a skipper or crew. In other words you're the captain, free to go where you want. It may sound scary, but the area is very safe and with some guidance (and state of the art equipment) you can safely enjoy the perfect Whitsundays Sailing Adventure. Bareboat charters are extensively equipped and include a range of luxury yachts and standard sailing yacht vessels as well as power boats. There are 7 resorts in the Whitsundays, most welcome visiting yachts, offering evening entertainment, dining, and the use of their facilities.
