postheadericon The Fleurieu Peninsula has something for Everybody

South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsulais famous for its striking coast line, secluded beaches and unspoilt wildlife. A Mecca for ocean adventure with shipwrecks for diving and snorkeling, whale watching, surfing and fishing. The Heysen Trail is Australia's longest dedicated walking trail traversing over 1200 kilometres starting from Cape Jervis on the Fleurieu Peninsula and extending to Parachilna Gorge in the Flinders Ranges.

Sellicks Beach Fleurieu PeninsulaThe Fleurieu Peninsula is alive with vibrant and creative festivals, events and art. Some of Australia's best produce and vineyards are in the Fleurieu Peninsula: McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, and Currency Creek. Entertainment, food and wine are found in abundance. The Fleurieu Biennale is a significant arts festival held in November offering one of Australia's richest art prizes of $50,000 for the winning landscape painting.

Getting to the Fleurieu takes about 1 hour by car from Adelaide passing through coastal towns like McClaren Vale, Port Noarlunga, Port Willunga, Maslin Beach, Aldinga and Sellicks Beach. At Wellington, you'll cross the Murray River on a free cable ferry operated by the Department of Transport.

You may decide to stop along the way. With over 50 wineries, the McLaren Vale is one of the largest (and closest to Adelaide) wine regions in South Australia. Each wine region has a distinct character based on soil and proximity to water. Langhorne Creek is a major grape producer of premium wines, while Currency Creek and Southern Fleurieu have some of the oldest and newest boutique wineries in SA.

Accommodation includes the full range of hotels, resorts, luxury B&B's as well as mid-range motels and caravan parks and backpacker hostels. Fleurieu Peninsula visitors will find something for ever budget.
