Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs open at the Melbourne Museum
King Tut is perhaps one of the most famous of Egypt's Pharaohs. In the past 5 years, this fabulous exhibition has drawn over 7 million visitors in America and London. Now open at Melbourne Museum, visitors to the exhibition will witness the most impressive collection of Tutankhamun artefacts ever assembled outside of Egypt. Don't miss your chance to see the 'Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs' exhibition as the Melbourne Museum is the only venue in Australia where King Tut will be displayed before the exhibit returns to Egypt.
On November 4, 1922, Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered by Howard Carter in Egypts Valley of the Kings outside Luxor. King Tut was previously unknown and everyone was surprised by the wealth and knowledge of this find. The Curse of King Tut is among the most famous. This popular legend was born when Lord Carnarvon, the English Earl who funded the Tutankhamun expedition, died less than 6 months after the opening of the tomb. Despite the Curse, Museum visitors are thought to be exempt.
